About Us

Jerry Mikeska started his business June, 1945 with a small meat market in Georgetown, Texas. About the summer of ’46 someone that knew him asked if he would be willing to cater a meal for about 80 people. Jerry, having no idea what this person was asking for, agreed to do it (true Mikeska fashion)! His first meal consisted of BBQ beef, sausage, beans, potato salad, and sauce.

This was Jerry’s start in the catering business. People spread the word of what he had done and that his services were available for hire. After a short time he was eventually forced to move his business and found an opportunity in Bastrop to buy an existing meat market.
Jerry Mikeska’s BBQ & Catering has been doing business in Columbus since 1956. Jerry started with a meat market in Bastrop in 1948 after returning from service in the Army Air Corps as a mess sergeant. After several years in Bastrop, he decided to relocate his business to Columbus. Over the years as the area and economy evolved he gradually turned his business into a restaurant and catering only. Jerry started in downtown Columbus and in 1987 he opened the doors to the highway location. Eventually he decided to close the doors on the downtown location and concentrate his interests on the highway location where he remains to this day.
