Join us Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Zimmerscheidt Historic School as we celebrate the unveiling of their new walking trail with a special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony during their National Night Out Celebration!

Zimmerscheidt School has been part of Colorado County’s history since the early days of Texas public education. The school was included in School District #8 in 1854 and went on to serve the surrounding community for generations. Following World War II, local veterans also used the school and a workshop on the property for meetings and technical training made possible through the GI Bill.

Today, Friends of Zimmerscheidt Historic School works to preserve this historic one-room schoolhouse and its story for future generations. Come celebrate this newest addition to the property and stay for their National Night Out Celebration from 5:30–7:30 PM, featuring food, fun, family activities, and music by Tim and Alicia Kulhanek!

Help us congratulate Friends of Zimmerscheidt Historic School and join us for the ribbon cutting at 6:00 PM!
