White Cane Days
The motto of the Lions Club is “We Serve.” There are presently 80 members of the Columbus Lions Club, and they meet on the first four Thursdays of the month at noon at Schobel’s Restaurant.

The Columbus Lions Club will host White Cane Days on Friday, October 19 and Saturday, October 20, to increase awareness of the white cane safety laws and to raise money for the blind and visually impaired. On Friday, from 8:00 a.m. until noon Columbus Lions Club members will be at the Columbus Post Office. On Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Lions will be at HEB, Schobel's and Brookshire Brothers. From 9:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Lions will be at the Farmers Market and at Cardinals Classic Cleaners. Donations will benefit the Lone Star Lions Eye Bank in Manor, Texas, and will help to provide eyeglasses locally to needy children. One of the goals of the Lions Clubs International is to eliminate preventable and reversible blindness worldwide.
