DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, December 6th\, more than 1\,000 women and men will descend upon Columbus to shop\, sample wine\, eat snacks and have a downright\, good old time. 29 merchants and businesses will stay open until 9 pm that night\, and trolleys will shuttle participants to those participating shops outside of the immediate downtown area. Many merchants will be serving wine samples at their stores\, including Tommie Vaughn Auto Country in the lobby of the Stafford Opera House. A $10 commemorative wine glass will be your ticket to sample the wine. Wine glasses are now on sale at the Chamber of Commerce at 425 Spring Street. Or\, on the night of the event glasses can be purchased at The Live Oak Art Center at 1014 Milam Street or at the Stafford Opera House. \n\n \n\nSome merchants will have snacks at their shops. Others are offering contests\, cool giveaways or special sales and deals for the night. As in past years\, Columbus State Bank will be giving out free water and soft drinks on the corner of Walnut and Milam Streets. On the other corner\, First State Bank will be serving up their famous grilled hot dogs. Down Walnut Street\, Hallmark Realty will be giving out hot roasted fresh corn. And on Milam Street across from the Square\, State Farm Insurance will be serving food and hot chocolate. The first 100 patrons will get their chocolate in a souvenir insulated mug. Also check out their photo booth contest while you're there.\n\n \n\nMore than 50 additional merchants and vendors will set up both inside and outside the Opera House (where Spring Street will be closed off to accommodate more vendors)\, selling handbags and purses\, custom yard signs\, hand embroidered items\, artwork\, photography\, Mary Kay and Lularoe products\, gourmet foods\, baked goods including hand decorated Christmas cookies\, homemade soaps and lotions\, baby and children's items\, gift baskets\, candles\, jewelry\, handcrafted wood items\, air fresheners and much\, much more! There will also be food vendors outdoors on Spring Street.\n\n \n\nEven more merchandise vendors will be set up on Milam Street at the Live Oak Art Center and on Walnut Street at the Wellness Spot\, Harbert Garage and the Historic Brandon House.\n\n \n\nSanta Claus will be on hand at Double G Realty at 1114 Milam Street\, so stop in to shoot a selfie with him. And be sure to sample Shelley's famous sangria while you're there.\n\n \n\nThis year\, Lil' Einstein Learning Center will be offering child care services from 4:30 to 9:30 pm\, so parents can drop off their kiddos and join the fun. Meantime\, the kids will be having fun too with dinner\, crafts and a movie. Just make sure to appoint a designated driver so your kids will make it home safely after you're out sampling wine around town. The charge for child care will be $30. Ronny Daley of Daley Salvage will be hosting a men's social from 5 to 9 pm offering complementary cigars and whiskey at the recently renovated Harbert's Garage at 535 Walnut across the street from AL&M Building Supply.\n\n \n\nAnother option for the men\, and for those who don't care to shop but want to be in on the fun\, is the Courtyard Wine Bar at the Live Oak Art Center which will be open too.\n\n \n\nEvent organizers\, the Columbus Chamber of Commerce\, encourages everyone to drink responsibly. Once again\, it's suggested that participants appoint a designated driver or ride the "Jolley Trolley" to get around town and even consider staying at a local hotel or bed & breakfast. Special Ladies Night Out rates have been negotiated at The Carriage Step\, Riverview Ranch and Magnolia Oaks bed & breakfast facilities as well as at the Holiday Inn Express hotel. Consider inviting your out-of-town friends to come in and stay overnight. A strolling guitarist\, Dylan Jakobs will be serenading and making the rounds\, and the Cody Ray Henry Band will be performing at the grand opening of Tall Farms Market\, 623 Walnut Street. Another food vendor will be there at Tall Farms Market\, too.\n\n \n\nThis year\, with the sale of each wine glass participants will be given a 'passport' to 17 participating merchants and businesses. Get your passport stamped at all 17 of them and you'll be entered into a drawing to win a prize package valued at $1000 with gift cards to local shops and restaurants. In addition to the participating businesses on the passport\, the Chamber thanks Schneider Hall\, the Carriage Step\, Farmers Insurance\, Kathleen Wick Insurance\, Beckey's Caf \, Hallmark Realty\, Blue Dolphin Realty\, Living Texas Real Estate and Texas Farm Bureau Insurance for donating additional local gift cards for the prize winner.\n\n \n\nIn conjunction with Ladies Night Out\, the Chamber is conducting their annual window decorating contest.
