About Us
The Columbus Garden Club is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1936 for charitable and educational purposes focusing on community beautification and education. The long-term goal of our club is to enhance that beauty through the love of gardening.
Evidence of this love is seen all over Columbus. The members plant and care for numerous pocket gardens such as in downtown: Blue Star Memorial, pots in the seating areas of the Courthouse Square, Plant It Pink garden near the Court Oak, and our town's award-winning Visitors Center certified butterfly garden featuring many Texas natives. We also care for Legion Park, Midtown Butterfly Garden, and the Live Oak Street Rose Garden. You will also see their creativity in their labors of love supporting local events such as Colorado County Fair Entrance decorations and seasonal decor on the Square.
For 40+ years, the club has decorated several historic homes during the Christmas Holidays including the DiLue Rose Harris home and the Alley log cabin. Our members serve as docents, donning period costumes while welcoming visitors and elementary students to tour the homes and learn about the history of Columbus.
The two butterfly gardens at: the Visitors Center and Midtown Park are nationally certified. These gardens support not only Monarch and other butterflies but also many other native species of insects. They are lovingly cared for by our club's butterfly experts. And supporting healthy insect populations supports our native birds!
Columbus Garden Club membership is open to all who love gardening or want to learn about gardening. To contact the club, visit https://www.columbusgardenclub.org/contact.
