About Us

MISSION
The Wellness Council’s mission is to facilitate communication and collaboration between behavioral and medical health providers, social service agencies, school personnel, law enforcement and first responders, ministers, elected officials, community volunteers and leaders. Additionally, The Council will:

• Promote the development, creation and/or identification of needed health-related services for our communities;

• Advocate and increase public awareness of health-related disorders and challenges, resources available and treatment options;

• Provide health & wellness related educational programs and information for both providers and the general public.
The Wellness Council was formed in 2021 as the result of the Behavioral Health Task Force’s vision and understanding that a 501(c)(3) organization was needed to continue their important work in perpetuity. Like the Task Force, The Council is a grassroots movement with an intense, solution-focused attitude.
Our website: www.WellnessGCV.org hosts the Community Resource Directory that has over 400 resources, including local providers, cities and county services and leaders, resources within driving distance, and national and state behavioral health associations that offer free online screening, information, hotlines and crisis text lines. Additionally, the Behavioral Health Needs Assessment conducted by Texas A&M School of Public Health is available, along with health articles written by Council members.
