About Us

A Family Raised on Good Food and Football

It all started with two brothers. Bob and Andy Schobel along with their wives Mary Jane and Donna opened the restaurant in 1979. Lovers of great food and inspired by their mother Nolie Schobel “Nan” (known for her great home cooking), the brothers strived to serve the freshest food at the best price in the town they grew up in and loved – Columbus, Texas. In May of 2000, Andy’s son, Ryan, joined as the restaurant’s first manager since opening, and in March 2004, Andy and Bob sold the restaurant to Ryan and his wife Andrea. Although on paper the ownership has changed, in reality the entire family presence remains the same. Andy, Donna, Bob, Mary Jane, Ryan and Andrea work together on a day-to-day basis to make sure you feel welcome when you arrive and stuffed when you leave.

Years of eating at Schobels has created 3 NFL football players. Aaron Schobel of the Buffalo Bills, Matt Schobel of the Philadelphia Eagles, and Bo Schobel of the Indianapolis Colts.
