There is no shame in seeking help! Cheryl is an LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor). Being in recovery herself since 1995 she understands addiction and the family disease concept. She has been in the counseling field since 2007. She has found that addiction usually has an underlying source, sometimes it is boredom or peer pressure, but more often she finds there is unresolved grief or trauma. Trauma is a normal emotional response that a person endures after something terrible happens.
Trauma ties us up. It can limit where we go, who we will see, and what we do.
“Forgetting does not heal, remembering does.” It can be difficult to NOT think about a traumatic experience, and even more difficult to let go of the emotions associated with the event. It is not uncommon for people to find comfort in unhealthy sources that can lead to isolation, anxiety, depression, substance abuse or dependency.
Having someone to process and work through these issues can help you recover. Cheryl uses unique ways to reveal what will heal you, thus gaining power over your own life. Cheryl is certified by Psych Armor as a “Veteran Ready Healthcare Provider” for PTSD.
Cheryl wants to offer the same ''big city'' opportunities to our rural communities. She offers phone services as well as in person sessions at affordable rates.
